Chapter 1637

    ?Chapter 1637:

“Then let me go with you!” Faye said quickly. “I owe her an apology, too. That night, she was so kind, holding me so I would not fall. And I… I pushed her. She nearly stumbled because of me.” Her cheeks flushed with guilt.

Looking at Lucas, she said, “Please, Uncle Lucas, let me go with you. I need to apologize to her in person.”

“Belinda holds no grudge against you, Faye. You don’t have to apologize to her in person,” Lucas said firmly, rejecting Faye’s suggestion.

Faye’s eyes shed with determination. “Even if Belinda is fine, guilt is eating me alive. Uncle Lucas, please, let me go with you so I can apologize to her.”

“Your apology is noted. I’ll pass it on to Belinda for you. But you cannot tag along. Belinda and I need time alone.” Lucas didn’t budge.

Faye’s lips pressed into a pout, frustration flickering across her face. “Uncle Lucas, you are being so unfair!”

“Enough.” Lucas’ tone cut sharp. He turned and left, not sparing a backward nce.

Faye stood there, her fists clenched, a knot tightening in her chest. But there was nothing she could do to change Lucas’ mind.

After picking up Belinda, Lucas took her to a nearby restaurant for a meal.

During the meal, Lucas said, “Faye stopped by the office earlier, full of apologies. She said she should not have gone to that bar alone or pushed you. She asked me to tell you she is sorry and hopes you will forgive her.”<fnf186> Checktest chapters at f?ndnovel</fnf186>

Belinda’s eyebrow arched, a faint smile tugging at her lips as she twirled her ss. “Did she mention wanting to apologize to me in person?”

Lucas nodded. “She did. I told her not to interrupt our evening together.”

A softugh escaped Belinda, her eyes glinting with amusement. Of course, Faye had wanted toe. But Lucas hadn’t let her. Belinda could picture her stewing, her pride bruised.

The thought sparked a quiet satisfaction in Belinda’s chest, lifting her mood.

Taking a sip of water, Belinda shifted the conversation. “Sarai called me today.”

Lucas’ head tilted, his brow creasing slightly as he met her gaze.

“She started with an apology,” Belinda continued, her voice even. “Then she dropped a bomb. She told me she saw Holley inject something into me when she was a kid. And she used that to ckmail Holley before.”

Lucas’ eyes darkened. “So our suspicions were spot-on. But hering clean now? Sounds like she and Holley had a falling-out.”

A faint scoff escaped his lips.

Belinda’s smile turned cold, her lips curling with a sharp edge. “That’s right. If Sarai felt real guilt, she would have told me the truth long ago. Waiting until now? It’s clear she isn’t feeling guilty. I wager she got into trouble, tried to ask Holley for help, and found her threats useless. So, she turns to me, all apologies, ying the remorse card, hoping I will forgive her and let here back.”

A hollowugh broke from Belinda. She felt her heart turning cold.

She had treated Sarai like family, offered her trust and warmth. But Sarai had schemed against Lucas without a flicker of thought for her. She didn’t care about her at all.
