Chapter 1629

    ?Chapter 1629:

Once breakfast was over, Zaria returned to her room. The moment she stepped inside, her phone rang.

She nced at the screen, her eyes narrowing as she saw the caller ID. She answered the call with a swipe. “Well?” she asked. “Did you get it?”

The man on the other end of the line said, “We secured blood samples from Kylee and Mr. Wright.”

Zaria’s lips curved into a satisfied grin, a spark of triumph glinting in her eyes.

    “Excellent work,” she said.

Drawing a slow breath, she steadied herself, her mind already racing ahead. “Get those samples to the testing center. I want a paternity test done immediately.”

“Understood,” the man replied before ending the call.

Zaria slipped the phone into her pocket, her heels clicking softly against the hardwood as she crossed the room. She sank into the plush embrace of the sofa, her fingers tracing the velvet armrest.

Her thoughts churned, a storm of determination brewing behind her calm exterior. She would destroy her grandmother’s schemes.

But this hinged on one crucial condition—Kylee could not be her father’s daughter.

She had to confirm that Kylee was not Car and her father’s child.

If that turned out to be true—if her father remembered Car and realized she had borne him a child—then what ce would she have left in this family?

This possibility had to be eliminated at all costs.

If the test confirmed Kylee as her father’s child, she would ensure that her father forgot Car forever.

She could not, and would not, let anyone take her ce in her father’s heart. Dr. Brooks’ next hypnosis session was five days away, a narrow window to secure the results and plot her next move. Zaria’s gaze sharpened, a flicker of resolve in her eyes.

Later that evening, Lucas arrived at the hospital to pick up Belinda after her shift. Together, they headed to have dinner with Darwin.

When they stepped into the private dining room, Darwin was already there. “Belinda, Mr. rk,” Darwin quickly greeted them, rising to his feet and walking toward them.

Belinda’s smile mirrored Darwin’s, a soft nod apanying her greeting. Lucas, however, offered only a measured look, his eyes unreadable as he nced at Darwin.

Once they were seated, Belinda spoke first. “Sorry about this—we invited you to this meal, yet you arrived before us.”

Darwin chuckled. “I just got here a bit early. No need to mind such a trivial matter. We’re friends, after all.”

Belinda also chuckled softly and let the matter drop.

Lucas shifted in his seat, his gaze locking onto Darwin. “Mr. Lambert,” he said, his voice steady. “I owe you for what you did for Belinda. I said it before, and I mean it—I owe you a favor.”

Darwin leaned back, his posture rxed, though his eyes held a glint of something sharper. “No need for that, Mr. rk. Belinda’s my friend. If anything, I’m the reason she got tangled up in that mess. Helping her was the least I could do.”
