Chapter 1623

    ?Chapter 1623:

Faye lowered her gaze, biting her lip, and remained silent. Her slightly dazed expression made it clear that she was still under the influence of alcohol.

Belinda stepped in with quiet authority. “Lucas. Whatever you have to say, save it for tomorrow when she’s sober. Right now, she just needs to get home.”

Lucas didn’t argue. Since Belinda had said so, heplied. He cast another nce down at Faye and asked coldly, “Can you walk on your own?”

Faye remained motionless for nearly ten excruciating seconds before her body finally responded to her desperatemands. She struggled with tremendous effort, attempting to lift herself from the floor.

Despite her relentless determination, she discovered that standing was utterly impossible. Her expression twisted with frustration.

Lucas observed her humiliating predicament with detached interest, then gestured toward the bartender who was hovering nearby. “Could you please help me get her to my car?” he said politely.

His courteous tone shocked everyone in the bar. The bartender’s eyes widened with visible surprise, but he quickly recovered and nodded with eager agreement. “Absolutely.”

The moment Faye heard Lucas’ words, her body froze. She hadn’t anticipated that even in her current vulnerable state, Lucas would refuse to help her up personally or carry her to his car. Instead, he had chosen to ask a stranger to do it.

Why? Was he so determined to avoid any physical interaction between them?

“Miss Sandoval, please allow me to help you rise,” the bartender said in a respectful tone, crouching down to provide his assistance.

But the instant his hand made contact with her trembling form, Faye violently shoved it away with surprising force.

“Don’t touch me!” she eximed, her voice razor-sharp.

The bartender hadn’t prepared himself for her sudden, explosive outburst. Her aggressive shove sent him stumbling backward, and he copsed onto the floor.

He quickly scrambled back to his feet, and as he extended his hand once again to offer help, Faye’s reaction escted with even more intense hostility.

“Get away from me! Don’t you darey a finger on me!”

The bartender hesitated, clearly at a loss. He turned to Lucas with a resigned expression.

Lucas remained silent. He simply maintained his position, his cial stare fixed unwaveringly on Faye, who continued sitting on the floor in stubborn defiance.

After a while, his thin lips parted with deliberate slowness, and his deep, cold voice carried unmistakable undertones of stern authority. “Faye, that’s enough.”<fnc092> Content originallyes from FindN0vel</fnc092>

Belinda was also looking at Faye. She refrained from uttering a single word, but the corners of her lips curved into a faint, unmistakably mocking smile.

Faye didn’t want the bartender’s touch, nor assistance from anyone else present. It was obvious she wanted Lucas to help her up and carry her. Even though she could clearly sense his anger, she remained nted on the floor without the slightest movement.

She waited with desperate hope for Lucas to eventuallypromise, to help her.
