Chapter 1614

    ?Chapter 1614:

“Got it. Thank you so much,” Belinda said warmly. After expressing her gratitude, she rose from her chair and left the office.

As she stepped into the hallway, she spotted Darwin lingering near the door.

“Darwin?” Belinda’s voice carried a hint of surprise. It wasn’t for any particr reason—only that they hadn’t spoken or seen each other in ages.

“Belinda,” Darwin said, his face lighting up with a smile.

After a brief pause, he added, “I’ve been overseas for work recently, swamped with meetings and projects, so I didn’t get a chance to reach out to you. But I’m finally back now.”

Belinda nodded, her lips curving into a smile. “I see. So, what brings you here today?”

Darwin exined, “A close friend of mine was admitted here. I came to check on him and figured I’d stop by to see you, too.”

In truth, he hade specifically for Belinda. Being away for so long had left him yearning for her presence. He hadn’t reached out during his trip, worried that hearing her voice would only deepen his longing. Instead, he had buried himself in work, racing to finish everything so he could return to her sooner. But he kept that part to himself.

“Oh,” Belinda replied softly, her response brief.

After a moment, Darwin spoke again. “Hey, are you and Mr. rk free tomorrow night? I’ve been wanting to treat you both to dinner, but our schedules never quite lined up.”

Belinda hesitated, her eyes flickering as she fell into thought. Then, after a pause, she said, “Actually, it’s our turn to treat you. When you were discharged from the hospital, Lucas and I wanted to thank you properly, but the timing wasn’t right. Let us treat you to a meal this time.”.<fn415f> Fresh chapters posted on find(?)ovel</fn415f>

Darwin let out a softugh. “We’re friends—does it really matter who pays? But if you’re set on it, I won’t refuse.”

Belinda chuckled. “I’m not sure about Lucas’ schedule tomorrow, though. Let me check with himter, and I’ll let you know, okay?”

“Okay,” Darwin replied without hesitation. “I’m free these days, so just pick a time that works for you both.”

“Alright,” Belinda said with a nod.

ncing at the sleek watch on his wrist, Darwin asked, “Do you have time for lunch? I’ve never tried the food at the cafeteria here. How about we grab a bite together?”

Belinda gave a small shrug. “Sorry, I’ve got a surgery scheduled soon, so I can’t. But next time I’m free, I’ll show you the cafeteria’s finest.”

A flicker of disappointment crossed Darwin’s face, but he quickly masked it with a smile. “Alright, you promised—don’t go back on your word.”

“Don’t worry; I won’t,” Belinda assured him with a nod.

With their conversation wrapping up, Darwin decided not to hold her up any longer. “I’ll let you get back to work now.”

Belinda nodded. She turned and headed back into her office, while Darwin made his way toward the elevator. He pressed the button and waited.
