Barnaby: "Whoa!"
What was with that look?
Fine, if he didn''t want him to look, Barnaby would just mind his own business.
He scratched his nose, feeling oddly innocent. Ever since Mr. Miguel got himself a girlfriend, it seemed like everything was suddenly off-limits.
"Mr. Miguel? Mr. Miguel?"
The man across the table, Brett, was starting to look impatient. "Are the terms not good enough? If it were Mr. Quinn, I''m sure he''d be satisfied."
Hull''s face went icy cold. "If you think Mr. Quinn is easier to deal with, then maybe you should talk to him instead."
With that, Hull stood up, his whole demeanor frosty, and stormed out of the room without another word.
Brett: "What the...?"
Ss and Barnaby exchanged a quick look, both startled by Hull''s sudden reaction.
Brett frowned, finally realizing things had gone sideways. "Ss, what''s that supposed to mean from Mr. Miguel?"
Ss shrugged, clearly not eager to get involved. "Think about it. Do you really think Mr. Quinn would even look twice at what you''re offering?"
Dropping Mr. Quinn''s name-rookie mistake.
Everyone in Ferrond knew that while Hull worked under Ronald, Ronald trusted him with almost everything.
Trying to use Ronald''s name here? Please.
Ss snorted. "Brett, you heading back to the maind now?"
Chasing Hull all the way out here to talk business had already put Hull in a bad mood. Now this?
Brett''s face turned stormy. "Fine. I''ll speak to Mr. Quinn myself."
"Be my guest," Ss said with a shrug.
Meanwhile, Hull was heading back toward the cabin, his steps growing faster and heavier with every stride.
Susanna had only been soaking in the tub for five minutes when she heard footsteps outside. Instantly, she went on high alert.
Thanks to Yvonne''s training, and all

edge now. She clutched the bath towel tighter, heart pounding, and listened as the footsteps drew
closer to the bathroom.
The door swung open with a loud bang.
Susanna wrapped the towel around herself just as Hull''s tall, imposing figure filled the doorway.
He paused, his eyes meeting Susanna''s wary gaze.
Hull''s Adam''s apple bobbed as he took in the sight of her-bare legs poking out from under the towel, her hair Still damp from the bathoThe air in the room seemed to grow hotter.
Susanna blinked in surprise. "Wha-what are you doing here?"
She''d been half-expecting an intruder, not Hull.
No wonder she hadn''t called out. If it had been someone dangerous, speaking up would have been the worst idea.
Life sure had a way of throwing curveballs. Susanna had never imagined she''d end up so jumpy, always watching for trouble.
Hull''s lips curled in a wry smile. "Didn''t even call my name."
"Yvonne said not to make a sound unless I''m sure who it is," Susanna shot back.
Hull didn''t hesitate. He stepped right into the bathroom, reaching for the towel and pulling it off her in one swift motion.
Susanna squealed, "Hey-what are you doing?"
Hull spun her around, pinning her gently but firmly against the tiled wall.
Years of restrained longing surged up inside him, colliding with a new wave of emotion he hadn''t expected.
The volcano erupted.
He leaned in, his breath hot against the top of her head, then trailing down to her
ear.
Susanna gasped, breathless. "Wait-wait, I don''t want to—"
This wasn''t what she''d expected at all. She tried to push him away.
She''d noticed earlier, while soaking, that she was still sore from an old injury. It even hurt a little.
But the words caught in her throat.
Even after nearly three weeks of Yvonne''s self-defense training, her strength was nothingpared to Hull''s. He held her easily, her struggles no more than a whisper on his skin.
