Chapter 781

Dan acted like he hadn''t heard a word she''d said.

He reached into the cab, pulling out a folder he''d prepared earlier. There was even a pen clipped on top.

Without a word, Dan handed it to Yvonne.

She looked at him, cold and unblinking, her gaze darting to the title on the folder.

When she saw the words "Divorce Agreement," Yvonne let out a cold, almost amusedugh. "What''s this? Trying to y the old prenup game with me?"

Everyone in high society knew how these transactional marriages worked. Sometimes the ink was barely dry on the marriage license before the divorce paperwork was ready, too.

She sneered, "Who do you think you are, trying to pull this crap with me?"

Did Yvonne look like some desperate woman trading her dignity for a few steak dinners and a penthouse suite? She wasn''t here to y these games.

Dan''s voice was steady. "It''s the divorce agreement for you and Xander."

    Yvonne froze. "What?!"

She looked up at him, her eyes stormy and wild.

Dan watched her emotions flicker, then sat down on the edge of the bed, nudging the divorce agreement closer.

"Just sign it. Divorce him first, okay?"

Whether she loved or hated anyone wasn''t the issue right now. What mattered was that Dan ckwell-head of the ck Gate family-wasn''t about to y second fiddle to anyone, especially not as the other man.

So Yvonne had to divorce Xander.

Yvonne''s breathing was ragged. "You bastard."

Listening to Dan make decisions for her, so cool and self-assured, made her blood boil. She raised her hand and swung at his face.

This time, though, Dan caught her wrist.

"I don''t care who was at The Night Owl that night," he said quietly.

"You don''t care?" she spat, furious. "You lying jerk, what''s this little act you''re putting on for me?"

She tried to hit him again with her free hand-and this time, the pnded, echoing through the room.

    Dan''s face darkened instantly.

He ground his teeth. "Did you p Xander like this, too?"

His voice was tight, barely masking a jealous edge.

Bringing up Xander was a mistake. Instantly, Yvonne remembered the night she and Xander got their marriage license-the same night Dan had pulled his stunt. That wasn''t just about humiliating Xander. It had dragged her name through the mud, too.

Her anger boiled over, but her strength was gone. She tried tond another hit,

but it was more a weak push than anything.

Dan barely flinched, but Yvonne was about to lose her mind.

"You bastard, why are you fine?" she shouted.

She''d only taken one drag of that cigarette when she walked in, but now she felt weak all over. Dan, meanwhile, had been sitting in the study the whole time, totally unaffected.

    Was there... an antidote?

She red at him, suspicion burning in her eyes. "There''s a cure for that stuff, isn''t there?"

Dan''s eyes darkened, but he didn''t

look the least bit guilty. If anything,

    he

    oked infuriatingly confident

    t every rotten thing hel?

    done.

Yvonne was seething when Dan suddenly pulled her into hisp. "Come on, be

good. Divorce him first, okay?" His voice was soft, almost coaxing.

    Yvonne stared at him, speechless.

What the actual hell was wrong with this guy? Did he even hear the wordsing out of his mouth?

She pped him again, just because she could.

Dan didn''t even try to dodge. If she wanted to hit him, he''d let her.

His stubbornness only made Yvonne angrier. The fact that her ps barely left a mark made her even more furious.
