All the anger Yvonne had bottled up
on the way over burst out at once.
But this time, Dan was ready. He
rolled his chair out of the way just in
time, dodging her attack.
Yvonne was livid. She lunged at him. "Where the hell did you hide Susanna?!"
Just the mention of Susanna made Yvonne see red she swung at Dan even
harder.
But Dan was prepared this time. He
wasn''t about to let Yvonne beat him
to a pulp likest time. Knowing
she''de at him with everything
she had, he met her blow for blow.
When she demanded to know about Susanna, Dan''s expression turned grim.
"Susanna''s missing? I didn''t take her."
"Liar!"
Yvonne''s temper exploded. She punched harder, desperation and rage fueling
her.
Even with Dan on guard, she managed tond a few solid hits—his face, already
bruised from theirst encounter, started swelling up again.
But as the scuffle wore on, Yvonne
suddenly felt her strength fading: All
that anger she''d been carrying
seemed to evaporate, leaving her
weak and lightheaded.
After a few more rounds, Dan managed to pin her against the desk. "Enough. I
told you, I didn''t take her."
Yvonneshed out, grabbing at him. "If it wasn''t you, then who? No one else has
ever screwed me over the way you have, Dan!"
