Yvonne didn''t say another word.
As soon as she finished, she sprang from the window in one swift motion. Security and bodyguards burst in just in time to see a gaping hole burned into the hospital bed.
Scar''s face had gone ghostly pale as he rushed to Dan''s side. "Sir..."
"What do you think she''ll do next?" Dan''s voice was dangerously calm, but there was a storm brewing in his eyes.
Scar hesitated. "Honestly? That woman... she hates you with every bone in her body."
She really had been about to kill Dan just now.
So what would Yvonne do next? Nobody could say for sure.
But one thing was certain: with her temper, she was bound to tear the roof off the ce before she was done.
Scar''s choice of words "that woman"-made Dan shoot him a re sharp enough to cut ss.
Scar''s heart skipped a beat under the weight of that look.
Dan muttered, "What the hell is even going on in that woman''s head?"
The way she''d acted toward Xander earlier-she didn''t even want to hear his
name, but she trusted Xander like he was her own brother. The more Dan thought about it, the angrier he got.
And then-no surprise-he cked out. Again.
Scar jumped, panicked. "Doctor! Doctor, he''s out again!"
That phrase had echoed through the hospital halls so many times in the past two days, the nurses could probably recite it in their sleep.
And every time the doctors brought Dan back, they''d sternly remind him: *You have to keep your emotions in check. No more outbursts.*
...
Ever since Ste found out she was pregnant, Ronald had cleared his schedule to be with her as much as possible.
It was breakfast time.
Lottie hade back to grab her purse, just in time to see Ronald set a ss of milk in front of Ste.
Ste wrinkled her nose. "No way. I don''t want it."
She''d once liked milk, but after Ronald had practically forced it down her throat a dozen times, she''d had enough.
Seeing her stubborn pout, Ronald lowered his voice, trying to coax her. "Come on, sweetheart. Just a little?"
"I said no," Ste grumbled.
Lottie watched the scene unfold, a smile tugging at her lips. Ronald looked for all the world like a dad trying to convince a toddler to eat her veggies.
The butler noticed Lottie and started to greet her, but she signaled him to hush. Clearly, she didn''t want to interrupt the couple''s little world.
After all, Ronald had nearly lost his mind during the three years they''d been apart. Now that he finally had Ste back, she wasn''t aboutto get in the way.
Lottie tiptoed upstairs.
Ste eventually gave in, though she looked like she was being forced to eat brussels sprouts, and sipped half the ss. "It''s just gross, okay?"
With a fond smile, Ronald set a perfectly fried egg on her te. "Then what would you like instead?"
His voice was gentle, like he was negotiating with a child.
"Orange juice," Ste replied without missing a beat. Fresh-squeezed, cold, and tangy. That was what she craved.
Ronald nodded. "Alright. I''ll have someone make you a ss."
At that, Ste''s whole mood brightened.
Ronald shot the butler a look, and he hurried off to the kitchen to get Ste her juice. Since she was pregnant, everyone took her
cravings and diet very seriovel.ne
Ste had just taken a bite of egg when Hull came barreling into the room, looking rattled.
Ronald''s brow furrowed. "What''s going on?"
Usually, nothing could ruffle Hull. He was the definition of calm, cool, and collected.
Hull nced at Ronald, then at Ste. The moment his eyes met hers, her heart gave a nervous thump.
"Wait... is this about me?" she asked, suddenly anxious. "I''ve been good! I''ve barely even left the house-how could I be in trouble?"
Hull cleared his throat. "It''s Susanna. She''s missing."
Ste gaped at him. "She''s... what?"
Missing? Seriously?
"Who took her? Was it those creepy twins? Wait, didn''t one of them get hurtst time? The other shouldn''t be a threat anymore, right?"
?
Besides, Hull''s ce was like Fort Knox-booby-trapped to the teeth. If both twins went in and only one limped out, then the other couldn''t be in much better shape.
