Xenia was hinting at something.
Noelle smirked. "Are you saying I secretly embezzled the foundation''s donations?"
"I didn''t mean that. I just wanted to remind you that you can''t use charity funds. It wouldn''t look good for the Liddell family if word gets out, right?" She waved her hand dismissively. "Just pretend I never said anything."
Noelle clicked her tongue. "Pretend you never said anything? You already said it, and now you''re pretending to be innocent?"
"Noelle, I only said it for your own good." Xenia''s eyes welled up with tears as she turned to Emma. "You were at the charity auction that day and should know exactly how much was raised."
Emma nodded. "Of course I know, but what does that have to do with Noelle''s ount verification today?"
Xenia hadn''t expected Emma to defend Noelle. How could she not have even the slightest doubt about Noelle?
Laura looked at Noelle. "I think verifying the funds means the money will be temporarily held back for a few days."
This was to prevent people from borrowing money just to pass verification and then withdrawing it immediately after receiving their membership card.
Before Noelle could respond, Xenia started crying. "Noelle, the foundation still needs to cover expenses for uing events. We need that money!"
She seemed to suggest that the money in Noelle''s ount was the charity funds.
Laura had a n forming in her mind, but she kept her expression rxed. "Ms. Liddell, will that be a problem?"
Noelle answered calmly, "Not at all."
After all, the money wasn''t from the charity fund. It was her earnings from
streaming and dividends from the Al project in which she had invested. That
project was about to go public soon, and she would be making even more when it did.
Xenia suddenly grabbed Noelle''s hand. "Noelle, don''t make things worse. Everyone here is a friend. No one willugh if you just admit it."
Noelle shoved Xenia away. "Are you crazy? The money in my ount isn''t from the charity. I''m not that greedy."
"Noelle, you don''t have to pretend anymore. Xenia''s gaze was filled with fake concern. "Mrs. Greene and Laura both said they could lend you the money. Why don''t you just borrow some?"
She looked so pitiful yet self-righteous. Noelle grabbed a ss of water and sshed it right onto Xenia''s face.
Xenia shrieked. "What are you doing? Do you even know how expensive this dress is?"
Noelle pped her hands together. "I''m saving you."
Xenia looked furious. "Saving me?"
"You were talkingplete nonsense like you were possessed. Are you feeling better now?" Noelle smirked.
She continued, "Let me say it one
ount
isn''t from the charity. If your ears
aren''t working, go see a doctor. And
while you''re at it, get your brain
checked, too."
Xenia was livid. "But how could you possibly have ten million dors? If it''s not embezzled charity funds, then what is it?"
"Do I owe you an exnation?" Noelle couldn''t be bothered.
Laura hadn''t expected Noelle to be this bold in front of Emma. She maintained herposure and said, "Alright, if Ms. Liddell says it''s not the charity funds, then it''s probably not. Let''s not throw usations around." s?novel
Xenia had no evidence. She couldn''t ess the foundation''s ounts now but would be able to once she went to the office tomorrow. She would not let Noelle get away with this.
Laura secretly sneered at Xenia''s silence. How useless. Soon, the manager returned with a card and handed it to Noelle. "Ms. Liddell, wee to the club."
"Thanks." Noelle took the card.
