Noelle just stood silently by the side, watching as Xenia''s face turned red with anger.
Xenia spoke with an aggrieved tone. "ke, I''m also a part of the Liddell family."
"You''re not worthy!" shouted ke before rolling up the car window, no longer intent on talking with her.
Noelle walked over and nced at Xenia. "Did you really think that your little tricks wouldst you a lifetime? That is unless you can keep up the act forever. Unfortunately, you''ve failed."
Xenia''s expression darkened instantly.
She deeply regretted not listening to her father and continued putting up an act in front of ke.
But ke''s attacks were too painful for her to bear. At the time, his reputation was in shambles, and he was about to face awsuit from Noelle.
Xenia thought ke was done for and no longer bothered to keep up the act in front of him. She never expected that ke and Noelle would end up joining forces.
The car drove away right after Noelle had gotten into it.
Xenia was left standing by herself, stomping her feet in frustration. She swore that once she and her father had drained the Liddell family of everything, she would make them pay for everything they had done.
...
Meanwhile, inside the car. Noelle nced at Xenia, left on the road, and asked, "Aren''t you afraid that she''llin to Donovan?"
It was what Xenia excelled at doing, after all.
ke remained silent for a while before replying. "Donovan''s the only one still protecting her now. Everyone else already knows what kind of person she is."
"Yeah, most people only realize how painful it is when they''re the one that gets hurt. I get that feeling," Noelle mocked him and said nothing more.
ke hesitated for a while and then asked, "There is still plenty of work to do at thepany. How do you n to handle them?"
"You''ll take care of them. I don''t really have the time for that right now," she replied.
ke let out a sigh of relief after hearing Noelle''s reply. He realized that Noelle''s target was Xenia and not him.
The car soon arrived at a vi. Noelle looked at the house and remembered that in her previous life, she had only lived in Aldoria and had never had the chance toe here. As she stepped out of the can, she saw the housekeepers lined up in two neat rows.
Just then, Xenia had also arrived by taxi. She stormed out of the car angrily and, upon seeing the grand wee, deliberately rushed ahead of Noelle to enter the house first.
"Wee home, Ms. Quigley!" the housekeepers spoke up in unison.
Xenia walked to the front with a smug smile, enjoying the attention of the housekeepers. But it did notst long, as someone grabbed her by her hair and yanked her
je
backward. ke had grabbed onto her hair and forcefully dragged her to the back.
Xenia teared up from the pain as she asked, "ke, what are you doing?"
"Know your ce, Xenia. Today''s event is specially arranged for Noelle alone.
Who do you think you are to walk ahead of her?" ke replied before pushing Xenia aside, causing her to copse to the ground.
Having been humiliated in front of a
crowd, Xenia noticed that the housekeepers were all giving her disdainful and mocking looks. She lost heposure and yelled, But I''m also a member of the Liddell family! Why can''t I walk in first?"
For a long time, she was the only princess in the family.
Xenia had grown ustomed to being the center of attention, but everything had changed now that Noelle had returned.
ke sneered and exined, "The Liddell family treated you equally at first. But you know full well about what you''ve been plotting behind our backs. You''re not worthy of the kindness that we''ve shown you."
He recalled Xenia''s immediate shift in character after she took over thepany from Donovan a few days ago. He immediately felt that all the goodwill he had shown her for years was a shameful mistake and a taint on history.
Xenia felt so guilty that she became speechless. She regretted not keeping up the act in front of ke for a little longer.
ke turned to Noelle and said, "Let''s do this again properly."
Noelle had been watching as the entire scene unfolded before her. She tilted her head slightly and nced at Xenia before taunting her. "Trying to take my ce, Xenia? Not even close."
With that, she turned and walked toward the vi.
The housekeepers greeted her in unison with loud and clear voices. "Wee home, Ms. Liddell!"
Frank and Lucas were both waiting by the door, each of them holding a bouquet of flowers.
