?Chapter 1194:

“I said you should take care of your work-life bnce. If there are events you don’t want to attend, just have your agent decline them. Oh, and by the way, I’m heading back to my parents’ ce this weekend. You mentioned before that you loved our chef’s special fish dish. Let’s go together!”

“NO!” Evie blurted out, her voiceced with panic. She quickly tried topose herself.

“Madisyn, I can’t go this time.”

    Madisyn tilted her head, puzzled.

“Why not? Are you worried about your schedule? I checked—you don’t have anything nned for this weekend.”

“It’s not about work,” Evie replied hurriedly, avoiding eye contact.

“I already made ns with some friends. I can’t break my promise to them.”

“Alright, if you’ve got ns, you can join us next time,” Madisyn said with a kind smile. She offered a few more gentle reminders about self-care before letting Evie go.

That weekend, Madisyn and Andrew headed to the Johns Manor together. As their car approached the grand manor, Madisyn spotted Waylon standing at the entrance, gazing in their direction.

She parked the car beside him and rolled down the window.

“Waylon, why are you standing here?” she asked, her tone curious.

“I figured you’d being soon, so I came out to greet you.” Waylon nced briefly at her before his gaze shifted to the back seat.

The back seat was empty. Andrew had already stepped out of the car and opened the rear door.

“Waylon, there’s still some distance to go. Get in,” Madisyn urged.

Without a word, Waylon climbed into the car. Normally, he was lively and upbeat, but today, his demeanor was distant. He rested his chin on one hand, staring out the window as though deep in thought.

Madisyn exchanged a quick nce with Andrew, raising her eyebrows in question.

Andrew noticed the change in Waylon too but simply shook his head, indicating he had no idea what was wrong.

In the back seat, Waylon’s expression remained clouded.

His thoughts drifted to Evie. He knew she wouldn’te here—not after that night.

He had offered to take responsibility, but Evie had firmly rejected him, insisting he forget it ever happened. And yet, he couldn’t. The memory of that night haunted him, reying over and over in his mind—the scene, the emotions, even the redness on the bed.

Thinking it over, Waylon not only couldn’t forget about that night but remembered it even more vividly, as if the memory had been etched deeper with time.

After that day, he had swiftly dealt with the people who had drugged him, making sure they paid the price. At the same time, he couldn’t shake the feeling that the night he spent with Evie wasn’t something that could just be brushed aside.

Evie was not only his friend’s younger sister but also an innocent bystander caught in the storm of this incident. He couldn’t be heartless; he had to step up and take responsibility. But the problem was, Evie wasn’t willing…
