True Immortal Realm Level Seven. One minor realm higher than the True Immortal Realm Level Six Mchy Vane had told him.
That old fox Mchy Vane really hadn''t told the truth.
Or maybe Magnus Storme''s strength had risen since then.
But however it was, now that he was here, Jared wasn''t backing off.
Jared''s eyes narrowed a fraction.
He stood on the mountain summit and watched Magnus lead more than a dozen celestial cultivators down onto Thunderpeak.
Magnus moved with the same caution he always had. Every month, on the fifteenth, he came to Thunderpeak, and every single time he brought more than a dozen men with him to sweep the area for 100 miles around the mountain. Only after they confirmed there was no ambush did he begin cultivating.
For 5 thousand years, that routine had never changed.
"Spread out. Search!"
"Yes, my lord!"
The dozen-plus celestial cultivators scattered at once and began searching all over Thunderpeak.
It didn''t take long for one of them to spot Jared.
"My lord! There''s someone here!"
Magnus''s brows pulled together, and he strode over.
What he saw was a young man in azure robes standing on the mountain summit, face calm, gaze clear, with a cultivation of only Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight.
A sword hung at his waist, with several cracks running along the de. He looked like nothing more than an ordinary wandering cultivator.
Some of the edge left Magnus''s wariness.
To him, a Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight wandering cultivator wasn''t even worth counting as an ant.
"Who are you? How dare you trespass on Thunderpeak?" His voice rolled out like thunder, shaking the rocks on the mountain.
Jared turned around to face him.
"Jared."
Magnus narrowed his eyes.
He had heard that name before.
In the Pyre Chasm, one punch had badly wounded Cedric, one palm strike had sent the celestials'' deputy flying, and one sentence had scared every celestial cultivator there into a panicked retreat. For thest two days, that name had been spreading through the entire Fifteenth Firmament.
What he hadn''t expected was that this Jared would turn out to be nothing more than a Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight wandering cultivator.
"Jared." Magnus''s voice dropped low. "I have no grudge against you, and you''ve got no grudge against me. Why are you blocking my path?"
Jared looked at him. His voice stayed even.
"Killing you is part of a deal."
The color shifted in Magnus''s face.
"A deal? Who sent you? Mchy Vane?"
Jared gave him nothing. But he didn''t deny it either.
A hard glint shed through Magnus''s eyes.
"That useless Mchy Vane didn''t daree himself, so he sent a whelp from the High Immortal Realm to die for him?"
He let out a coldugh.
"You think you can kill me?"
He lifted his right hand, and a mass of golden lightning gathered in his palm.
The heat rolling off it was fierce. The light was so sharp it washed all of Thunderpeak bright as day.
The air around them started to warp, and the rocks across the mountain cracked apart under the pressure of that lightning.
"Since you came, you''re not leaving."
Magnus struck out with his palm.
The golden lightning twisted into a Lightning Dragon and roared straight at Jared.
The dragon stretched for dozens of yards, gold from head to tail. Wherever it passed, the air tore open, rocks shattered, and even the heavenbolt hanging over Thunderpeak was swallowed into it.
Jared didn''t dodge.
He raised his right hand and met it with a palm strike of his own.
Purple lightning burst from his palm and formed a purple Lightning Dragon that crashed head-on into the golden one.
Boom!
The two currents of lightning mmed together and blew out a deafening st.
All of Thunderpeak shook. Rocks tumbled loose, and dust billowed through the air. The shockwave ripped a huge gap through the dark clouds overhead. Sunlight poured through the opening and lit the summit in a zing sheet.
Magnus''s pupils suddenly tightened.
"You know thunder arts too?"
Jared said nothing.
He drew his hand back.
Then the lightning nascence inside him broke loosepletely.
Purple lightning coiled around his body, twisting like countless violet snakes as
sharp crackles ripped through the air.
His eyes turned purple, and inside those pupils, lightning seemed to flicker.
Magnus''s expression hardened.
He could tell this much now. This young man at the Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight carried far more lightning power inside him than Magnus had expected. This wasn''t ordinary thunder arts.
It was chaos lightning, fused with a higher order of power.
"Interesting," Magnus muttered. "It''s been 5 thousand years. Finally, I''ve met someone who can actually fight."
He raised both hands.
Golden lightning gathered in his palms and condensed into two thunder spears.
Arcs of electricity shed over the spears, giving off a harsh, piercing hum.
"Then let me see what you''ve really got."
Magnus moved.
He was fast to the absolute limit. Golden lightning dragged a long afterimage behind
him.
In an instant, he was in front of Jared, driving the thunder spear in his right hand straight at Jared''s chest.
Jared didn''t give ground.
He turned sideways and slipped past the spear, then drove a palm toward Magnus''s shoulder.
Thunderp Palm, Thunderfall Unbound.
Purple lightning burst from his palm and mmed toward Magnus''s shoulder.
Magnus swept the thunder spear in his left hand across his body and blocked the strike.
Boom!
The two forces of lightning crashed together again.
Both men were sted backward at the same time.
Magnus gave ground five steps. Jared slid back seven.
A True Immortal Realm Level Seven going head-on against someone at the Top
Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight still came up a little short in a straight sh.
But Jared''s chaos lightning suppressed all thunder power. In that collision, it had eaten away part of Magnus''s golden lightning so the real gap between them wasn''t as wide as it looked.
Magnus''s face tightened even further.
"Your thunder arts... can devour my lightning?"
Jared didn''t answer.
He drew in a deep breath.
Inside him his lightning nascence and chaotic force turned at the same time. Violet radiance and ck chaotic force twisted together and sealed over his body, as a purple-ck cuirass.
Then he moved first.
Thunderp Palm, Storms Across the High Heavens.
He struck with one palm, and the force of lightning split into countless thunder
spears that shot straight at Magnus.
Every one of those spears carried the power of chaos lightning. Any one of them was enough to punch through the protective spiritual power of a true Immortal Realm cultivator
Magnus let out a cold snort and thrust both palms forward. Golden lightning rushed
together in front of him and formed a thunder shield.
It had fiveyers.
Eachyer held terrifying thunder power.
The thunder spears mmed into the shield.
The firstyer shattered.
The secondyer shattered.
The thirdyer. The fourth. The fifth.
The thunder spears punched through all fiveyers of the shield, but by then their
power had been spent. They dispersed right in front of Magnus.
Magnus''s expression changed.
That thunder shield of his could block a full-force strike from a True Immortal Realm
Level Eight expert.
Yet in front of this young man at the Top Level High Immortal Realm Level Eight, it hadn''t evensted three breaths.
"Who the hell are you?"
Jared still didn''t answer.
He pressed his palms together and drew everyst thread of lightning nascence and
chaotic force inside him into his hands.
"Thunderp Palm, Heavenbolt''s End of Days."
He slowly parted his hands.
A purple-ck sphere of light hung between his palms.
Lightning shed inside it, and the power packed into that sphere was enough to
wipe out an entire city.
The air around them started to warp.
Even the heavenbolts over Thunderpeak were dragged toward the sphere,
streaming into it one after another and merging inside.
The sphere kept swelling.
It kept getting brighter.
The color drained from Magnus Storme''s face.
He could tell what was inside that sphere.
If it hit him, it would st him into scraps.
