Its whole body was naked. Its skin was a strange gray-ck, covered in dense cracks, and inside those cracks, a dark red glow moved faintly.


    Its skull had already warped out of shape. Its features were twisted, and its mouth split all the way to its ears, exposing a row of jagged fangs.


    Its hands were worse. The nails were long as des, and they shed with a cold sheen.


    The strangest part was its eyes. They were hollow and empty, with no whites and no pupils, only a dead ck darkness.


    "W-What is that thing?!" Evelyn cried out.


    Jared''s gaze stayed on the creature, and a trace of weight passed through his eyes.


    He could feel twopletely different aurasing from it.


    One was sacred, pure and imposing. That was the aura of the celestials.


    The other was evil, cold and violent. That was the aura of the demon.


    Those two auras should have shed like fire and water, yet somehow they had fused together inside this thing, forming a twisted existence that made the skin crawl.


    "Celestials and demon..." Jared murmured, his brows tightening.


    Evelyn heard him, and her face drained. "What?! Celestials and demon? How is that possible? How could celestials merge with demon?"


    Jared didn''t answer.


    He was weighing the same question himself.


    The celestials had always called themselves the noblest race under heaven. They had always looked down on demon, treating them as filthy, lowly creatures.


    And between the two races, the hatred ran for generations. It was the kind that didn''t end until one side was dead.


    But the thing in front of them carried the bloodlines of both at once. That wentpletely against reason.


    That palm strike had sent the monster flying, but it hadn''t died.


    The monster fought its way back up. Its twisted body kept jerking, and a low, rough snarl dragged out of its throat.


    Those hollow eyes stayed locked on Jared, ck and empty, with nothing in them but a killing intent so wild it had turned raw.


    But it didn''t lunge again.


    Not because it had backed down, but because...


    ...from deeper in the thick forest, more snarls started rising.


    One. Two. Three...


    Then too many to count.


    They came packed together, one after another, ovepping from every direction.


    Evelyn''s face went paper white, and her body started shaking before she could stop


    it.


    Jared''s expression didn''t change. He only stood there and looked into the depths of the forest.


    A momentter, countless dark silhouettes shot out of the woods and rushed straight at the two of them.


    Some crawled over the ground. Some leaped through the trees. Some threw themselves forward through the air.


    Every one of them looked just like the first monster-twisted, vicious, crazed.


    And from every single one, the aura of the celestials and the demon race spilled out at the same time.


    There was no reason in them. No hesitation.


    Only a hunger for flesh and blood.


    They were monsters.


    Monsters born from the fusion of celestial and demon bloodlines.


    Jared lifted a hand.


    The Dragonyer Sword appeared in his palm in an instant.


    Golden dragon patterns flickered across the de, casting a strange light through the dim forest.


    "Stand behind me," he said.


    Evelyn hurried behind him and grabbed the back of his robe with both hands, her whole body shaking like she mighte apart.


    Jared took the sword and stepped forward.


    A sh of golden sword light burst out and lit up the entire forest in an instant.


    The monsters charging in melted away the moment that sword light touched them, like snow thrown under a zing sun.


    With one horizontal sh, more than a dozen monsters burst apart at once and turned into a cloud of blood mist.


    Jared never stopped moving.


    He walked forward with the sword in hand, and with every step he took, another streak of sword light cut out.


    And every streak of sword light dropped several more monsters where they stood.


    He moved through the swarm just like that, as if he were taking an easy walk through a courtyard instead of being surrounded.


    In front of him, those monsters were nothing at all.


    Whether they charged head-on or tried to strike from the side, whether they crawled low or leaped in from above, the instant they came within


    3 yards of him the Dragonyer Sword''s sword aura shredded them apart.


    Following behind him, Evelyn watched the whole thing happen.


    Little by little, the terror drained off her face, and what took its ce left her staring at him like she was seeing something she couldn''t put into words.  t


    She had seen powerful people before, but never anyone like this.


    High Immortal Realm Level Three.


    And yet the force he carried could crush everything in front of him.


    Every one of those monsters had strength at High Immortal Realm Level Five or higher yet in front of Jared they were like ants he could.. wipe out with a casual swing.


    "Young Lord... just who are you...?" she murmured, her eyes fixed on him.


    A short whileter, the forest finally went still again.


    Broken limbs and torn bodies covered the ground. Dark red blood gathered into


    streams and soaked through the dead leaves and the mud.


    The air was thick with sharp blood stench and rot, so heavy it turned the stomach.


    Jared stood there with his sword in hand.


    His robe was still spotless, not a speck on it.


    He put away the Dragonyer Sword and swept his gaze across the corpses scattered everywhere.


    Something shifted in his eyes as he looked.
